THE PORT OF ERIE It is the mission of the Port Authority to promote industrial, commercial, and recreational opportunities for the citizens of Pennsylvania on Presque Isle Bay and
adjacent waters. The Authority uses its legislatively mandated powers to acquire property, construct facilities and enter into agreements to increase the public use and enjoyment at the
water's edge and to generate new private investment. The Authority also promotes safe and ecologically sound uses of Presque Isle Bay. It is the Authority's intent to be a catalyst for long-term, balanced growth along the
Bayfront and adjoining areas. The Port of Erie is a working Port that balances industry with recreation on the waterfront. PennPORTS PennPorts is the state agency that is the liaison to Pennsylvania's ports on all port-related issues. In this role, PennPorts promotes and stimulates investment,
waterborne tourism and statewide commerce by facilitating port development, assisting in the improvement of intermodal transportation and fostering Pennsylvania port competitiveness globally.
The only Pennsylvania port on the Great Lakes, the Port of Erie provides commercial and recreational opportunities to customers from around the world. Port amenities
include the largest dry-dock and crane (200 ton) on the Great Lakes, a full-service shipyard, 300,000 sq. feet of warehouse space, a Foreign Trade Zone, an 80-acre
Keystone Opportunity Zone, 6,000 feet of deep draft dock face and over 200 private dock face. Office: Other Pennsylvania Ports include the Port of Pittsburgh and the Port of Philadelphia.
