The Port of Erie is located on the southeast shore of Lake Erie in a natural bay formed and sheltered by Presque Isle, Pennsylvania. Erie´s harbor entrance channel is 29 feet deep.

The Port of Erie and O-N Minerals Erie offer cargo shippers on the Great Lakes/Seaway System the finest facilities available. With 85 million people within a 500 mile radius, Port Erie and Mountfort are at the hub of the US and Canadian Industrial Center. Erie also boasts the Metro Machine repair/construction facility.

 

O-N Minerals Erie

O-N Minerals Erie has warehouses that are 50,000 and 35,000 sq. feet respectively. There are two crawler cranes rated at 220 and 160 tons each. Both are equipped with 5 to 20 CY buckets, grabs and lifting gear. The terminal's stiff leg crane is rated at 300 tons and is one of the largest on the Great Lakes. Three times per week CSX services sidings along the dock front and down the center of the 24-acre property. Also 15 acres of lay down area are available on the property for a variety of purposes.

The wharf has 1,450 feet of berthing space which supports heavy lifts, the Port's general cargo and has the ability to diversify into other functions as justified in the future. Other marine facilities along the waterfront are privately owned.

Erie Shipbuilding, LLC

Erie Shipbuilding offers a full range of ship repair / ship building services.  This Erie Facility covers 44 acres, has 200,000 square feet in 3 buildings, and 6 berthing docks.  The shipyard´s main feature is the 1250 ft. x 130 ft. dry dock.  The end 150 ft. of the dry dock is covered and has a 100 ton and a 20 ton overhead crane with 80 ft. of working height.

Erie Shipbuilding has all fabricating abilities necessary for ship repair and construction.  In addition, the facility has the capability of fabricating large units, turbine, generators, pressure vessels for overseas or Great Lakes shipping.  Erie Shipbuilding offers the first dry dock upbound from the Welland Canal.
